Job Description

ADULT SERVICES LIBRARY ASSISTANT

 

The Town of Mashpee Public Library welcomes applications for a part time Adult Services Library Assistant; $22.53/hour – $23.90/hour commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position works 19.5 hours/week between the Library’s operating hours of 9:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Saturday. The schedule involves regular weekday, evening and weekend shifts.

 

Minimum Requirements: Associates degree or higher with at least one (1) year of public library experience providing direct customer service in person, via telephone and/or electronically via email and some public service experience with adults; strong attention to detail with a working knowledge of basic public library concepts and resources; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have strong computer and organizational skills and excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills. Must possess a valid MA driver’s license (Class D). Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities: Provides excellent patron service and contributes to a variety of programs and initiatives for adult and multi-generational audiences. Performs a variety of office tasks and circulation duties as assigned, including checking material in and out, answering phones, and processing items on-hold for patrons, entering records in the online catalog, and answering a variety of information and readers advisory questions.
