???? Compensation: $175,000 - 200,000+ annually (Inclusive of Base + Bonuses + Commission)
The General Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitability and customer retention in both the new- and used-vehicle departments. This role requires effective leadership, in-depth market knowledge, performance-based management, and strong inventory control.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruit, train, supervise, and evaluate new and used vehicle department managers.
Lead forecasting for annual and monthly sales, gross profit, and expenses.
Set clear objectives for sales teams and ensure consistent performance.
Manage inventory supply and acquisition strategies for new and used vehicles.
Oversee merchandising, display standards, and disposal of aged inventory.
Review appraisals, reconditioning processes, and demonstrator policies.
Analyze market trends and recommend sales promotions, advertising, and compensation plans.
Personally review all deals and ensure compliance with dealership standards.
Oversee daily operations, including reviewing sales logs, trickle downs, appraisals, and missed opportunities.
Drive outbound call accountability through Car Wars and BDC follow-up.
Manage lease retention, retail equity opportunities, and orphaned customer assignments.
Monitor unsold surveys, sales team engagement, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
Ensure adherence to reception, greeting, and delivery confirmation processes.
Lead weekly sales meetings and implement continuous training.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a General Sales Manager or similar leadership role in an automotive dealership.
Proficient in VinSolutions – a must.
Proven track record in desking deals, appraisals, coaching teams, and achieving sales targets.
Deep understanding of local market conditions and effective inventory management.
Experience in both new and used vehicle operations.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
