Position Summary:

The Boring Bar Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining boring bar machines to produce precision metal components according to blueprints and specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate horizontal or vertical boring bar machines according to job specifications and work orders
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production routers
• Measure, inspect, and verify part dimensions using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
• Adjust machine settings and tooling as necessary to maintain quality and productivity standards
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and work area
• Monitor machine operation to detect issues such as excessive vibration, poor finish, or tool wear
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality control, and other team members

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience operating boring bar or similar CNC/manual machining equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and machining calculations
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and quality-driven

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with large-part machining and tight tolerances
• Knowledge of Mazak, G&L, or similar boring bar machines
• Experience in a production or job-shop environment
