About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for its Department of Political Science. The successful candidate will serve as the chief representative and leader of the department, overseeing its internal affairs and acting as a liaison between the faculty and the university administration. Key responsibilities include setting and meeting enrollment, retention, and graduation projections, scheduling courses, supervising faculty and staff, and creating and approving departmental goals. The Chair will also be involved in faculty evaluation, tenure, and promotion, as well as maintaining an active research agenda and teaching two courses each semester. The role demands a Ph.D. in Political Science, with a preference for candidates who have achieved the rank of Full Professor or have the qualifications to do so. Applicants for the Chair position at the company's Department of Political Science should have a strong background in teaching, research, and service, with evidence of a robust research agenda. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, administrative, interpersonal, mentoring, and communication skills, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse faculty and student body, and to contribute to the mission of the college and the university. Responsibilities also include managing the department's budget, documenting activities, and ensuring compliance with university policies. The Chair will be expected to track and analyze student performance and enrollment data, as well as to expand and grow the programs within the department.
