Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Microbiology at Labcorp summary:

Experienced or entry-level clinical laboratory technologists are needed to perform routine and complex microbiology testing, maintain instrumentation, perform quality control and report accurate patient results at LabCorp on a rotating shift (avg 20 hrs/week). Candidates require a bachelor's in a relevant science or MLS degree, at least one year of clinical lab experience or equivalent, with microbiology experience and certification (ASCP/AMT) preferred. Role includes specimen acceptance, troubleshooting, reagent preparation, documentation of maintenance/QC, and adherence to safety and regulatory (CLIA/state) requirements.

**Pay Range: $32.50-$43.00

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Work Schedule: Shift 1, 2 week rotation. (avg 20 hours/week)

Week 1: 1-2 weekdays, 7:00am to 3:30pm; Saturday, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Week 2: Sunday, 7:00am to 3:30pm; 1-2 weekdays, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Job Responsibilities:

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR an MLS degree
• Prior experience in Microbiology is strongly preferred
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
