The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology is currently recruiting for a Special Investigator to conduct administrative investigations in response to complaints alleging violations of business and professions code and Board regulations.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual. The Special Investigator classification requires a medical evaluation prior to being hired to determine if the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job safely and effectively.The position(s) require(s) a valid driver's license (DL).
