Environmental Scientist & GIS Specialist

Full-Time | Hybrid | Raleigh, NC or Richmond, VA (Other locations: VA, GA, TN considered)

We specialize in environmental due diligence studies, permitting, natural resource and RTE species assessments, NEPA compliance, and construction compliance inspections throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. We offer a range of specialized, comprehensive natural resource services for businesses, industry, and state, federal and local government. It is our mission to provide innovative, cost-effective solutions for our client's environmental and natural resource needs in the areas of ecology, streams, fish and wildlife, regulatory permitting and compliance support.

Role Summary

Dramby Environmental Consulting is seeking a motivated and multi-faceted Environmental Scientist & GIS Specialist with 3–5 years of professional experience in environmental consulting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in environmental science along with advanced GIS capabilities. Preference will be given to candidates based in Raleigh, NC or Richmond, VA , but applications from candidates in Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Science Duties:

  • Perform wetland delineations in accordance with USACE guidelines
  • Conduct threatened and endangered species studies
  • Complete stream assessments and determine jurisdictional status
  • Prepare and conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
  • Conduct Chesapeake Bay Preservation studies and approvals
  • Conduct ESC/SW Compliance Inspections
  • Prepare technical reports and deliverables
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team coordination and client communication

GIS Specialist Duties:

  • Produce and manage GIS maps and spatial data for environmental projects using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Develop and maintain geodatabases , schemas, and mobile field data collection platforms
  • Perform spatial analysis and create data visualizations and map layouts for internal and client-facing use
  • Edit and process GIS data with high accuracy, using geoprocessing tools and toolbox scripts
  • Coordinate with field staff and regulatory agencies to gather and verify geospatial data
  • Manage web applications and dashboards for environmental project tracking
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across all project deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Environmental Science , Geospatial Science , Planning , or a related discipline
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in environmental consulting
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS software , including ArcGIS Pro , ArcGIS Online , and related extensions
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and GIS-based analysis techniques
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, team-oriented environment
  • Certifications such as PWS , PWD , or GISP are preferred but not required
  • Certifications in Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Inspections preferred.
