Position: Epic Project Manager

Department: Epic

Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the implementation schedule and operational readiness for Epic projects. This role ensures all stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners remain aligned and on task throughout the implementation lifecycle. While this position plays a key role in project oversight and communication, it does not include responsibility for technical system build or direct supervision of analysts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the overall project plan and timeline for implementations, ensuring key milestones are tracked and met.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with internal teams, external partner sites, and vendors to monitor progress, identify roadblocks, and support resolution efforts.
  • Coordinate with Epic analysts, trainers, interface teams, and operational leaders to ensure tasks are aligned with project goals.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the implementation, maintaining clear and timely communication.
  • Track project deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues; escalate concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Support partner sites in understanding roles, responsibilities, and expectations throughout the implementation process.
  • Assist with preparation of go-live readiness assessments and post-live reviews.
  • Create and distribute status reports, executive summaries, and other project documentation as needed.
  • Maintain alignment with overall Epic strategy and ensure adherence to organizational standards and policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in project or program management, preferably within a healthcare or IT setting.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with multiple timelines and priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epic systems and/or Community Connect programs.
  • Familiarity with healthcare operational workflows and EHR implementation best practices.
  • PMP or similar project management certification.

  • Experience in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information
  • Time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily seated at a computer onsite located at South Central Regional Medical Center
  • May involve sporadic evenings or weekend work (approximately 2-4 times per year)
  • Occasional travel to partner sites will be required.
  • May involve occasional lifting of files or office supplies (up to 15 lbs.)
  • Frequent interaction with operational staff and providers at both South Central Regional Medical Center/Clinics and the Community Connect Partners.
