The purpose of the Jobsite Inspector is to perform pre- and post-job inspections to ensure a high-quality installation. This person will travel to multiple job sites and ensure that the process goes smoothly, identifying any areas of concern and assisting with resolving those concerns. This person will complete checklists and other required documentation and take photos while on the jobsite. This person should have the technical knowledge required to be an expert in the installation process, as well as have the administrative skills to maintain system notes, reports, and communicate information to multiple parties involved in the project.

This is also a great opportunity to make a difference to our surrounding communities. The Jobsite Inspector will be a big part of the Renew Detroit project helping put new roofs and windows on residential homes in Detroit, MI!

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform inspections before, during, and after an installation to ensure a high-quality installation occurs.
  • Identify and assist with the resolution of any potential concerns.
  • Determine if additional materials are needed throughout the installation for completion.
  • Complete any required documentation and checklists and take supporting photos.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as entering notes, scanning photos, and uploading information.
  • Communicate updates via email and reports as required.
  • Escalate issues to senior leadership.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and any parties involved.
  • Act as a representative of the company for job related activities.

What We Need:

  • Skilled in roofing, windows, carpentry, and siding installation.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on residential shingle roofing installation as well as window installation experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in new inspections and evaluation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in scoping out material needs.
  • Must be fluent in local municipality building codes and coordinating meetings with city inspectors. 
  • Must be fluent in OSHA safety requirements.
  • Must be able to utilize a computer and computer software; specifically: Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and email.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate well with people at multiple levels of seniority, for example install crews, administrative personnel, and management.
  • Must be organized, efficient, and able to multi-task.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely drive a vehicle to multiple job sites throughout the territory.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, and climb. 
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and work on top of a roof.
  • Requires the ability to move about inside an office and on a job site.
  • Must be able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, customers, vendors, and the public
  • Must be able operates a computer and other office equipment such as an iPad, copy/scanning machine and computer printer.

Hours/Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours per week/52 weeks per year. Standard hours are M – F, 8:00 – 5:00 but due to cyclical nature of position, some overtime, including evening and weekend hours, may be required to complete projects under deadlines. Daily local and statewide travel is required.

Compensation details: 30-35 Hourly Wage
