North Country Veterinary Services is\nseeking a Managing Veterinarian / Medical Director to guide our\nwell-established, nine-doctor mixed animal practice in beautiful upstate New\nYork. Primarily focused on small-animal care, this leadership opportunity also\nvalues candidates who bring insight or background in mixed animal medicine.”

Medical Director – Job Description

As Medical Director, you will lead both clinical and\noperational excellence in our practice. Responsibilities include ensuring high\nstandards of patient care, mentoring veterinary teams, and developing hospital\nprotocols that support compliance and client education.

You’ll collaborate with the Hospital Manager on financial\nperformance, staffing, and strategic planning—overseeing budgets, KPIs,\nscheduling, recruiting, and team development. You'll also drive initiatives\nthat enhance efficiency, innovation, and growth.

Additionally, you'll support marketing and community\noutreach efforts, promoting client retention and practice visibility, while\nfostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • \n
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • \n
  • Licensure (or ability to obtain) in New York State
  • \n
  • Primarily experienced in small animal practice, with\n knowledge of mixed animal medicine
  • \n
  • Proven leadership or management experience preferred,\n but not required
  • \n
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • \n
  • Commitment to team development, high medical\n standards, and community impact
  • \n

Compensation

  • Base salary range of $115K-$150K
  • \n
  • Production-based bonuses
