A Medical Receptionist at ProHealth Physicians performs patient check-in and check-out, schedules appointments, handles patient inquiries using electronic health records (EHR), and manages administrative tasks such as scanning documents and balancing payments. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, confidentiality in handling patient information, and proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office and EHR software like Epic. This position supports the healthcare team by ensuring smooth front desk operations and providing excellent patient service in a community-based primary care setting.

ProHealth Physicians (Primary Care) has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused, and detail oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team.

Schedule (Full-Time): Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm or 9am-5:30pm EST

Location: 415 Killingworth Rd. Higganum, CT. Some training may be required offsite in Farmington and Middletown, CT.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct check-in and check-out process
  • Answer incoming calls and use EHR to document details of patient inquiries
  • Conduct outreach to patients requiring appointments or service follow-up
  • Schedule appointments using standard scheduling protocols
  • Manage administrative in-basket pools and work queues
  • Scan documents into the EHR per standard protocols
  • Balance payments and prepare deposits
  • Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information
  • Provide coverage at other ProHealth locations on an ad hoc basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of receptionist or customer service experience
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a receptionist in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working with Epic
  • Previous primary care experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
