Job Summary

Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
Must be certified LEVEL II in at least TWO of the following methods: Magnetic Particle, Ultra Sonic, Dye Penetrant, Radiography.

Essential Functions

\n
• Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
\n
• Develop specific calibrations and tests.
\n
• Document results in accordance with the specification.
\n
• Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
\n
• Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
\n
• Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
\n
• Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
\n
• Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
\n
• Maintain documentation for training and experience hours.
\n \n Required Qualifications
\n
• \n Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
\n
• \n Other: NAS 410 Certification Level 2: State issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve Level I or Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements
\n
Preferred Qualifications
\n
• \n Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
\n
• \n Discipline/Major: Science Degree in NDT or equivalent training and experience
\n
• \n Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Problem-solving skills. Time management skills. Manual dexterity.
\n
Physical Requirements
\n
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
\n
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
\n
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
\n
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
\n
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
\n
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.
\n
