The OR Surgery Scheduler: Demonstrates effective management and communication skills. Prepares, maintains and updates the master schedule of surgical procedures; communicates changes to appropriate personnel. Prints and distributes the surgery schedule and reports needed by the other departments and personnel. Collaborates with other departments to coordinate exams and treatments, minimizing fragmentation and enhancing patient satisfaction. Enters patient data and appointment information into the computer system; maintains accurate patient logs. Collaborates with unit educator regarding in-services for educator of new equipment and supplies 10% Checks on privileges of surgeons requesting the use of lasers in surgery. Notifies medical staff of questionable case scheduling/checks on surgeon privileges. Serves as a resource for entering patient charges for surgery, entering post-operative data and scheduling GI Endoscopy and Sycamore surgery. Maintains confidentiality of patient, families, and staff. Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).
