Job Description

The Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and point-of-care tests, including performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance under supervision. The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
  • Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
  • Perform data entry of patient information accurately and timely.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes.
  • Accurately label and follow different procedures outlined by protocol to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Process billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
  • Provide superior customer service to all patients.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.

  • 4+ years of Phlebotomist experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Reliable transportation.
Work Environment

The work environment consists of a phlebotomy team that spends 90% of their time in the lab drawing blood, with only 10% of the time spent in doctors' offices. The schedule Monday to Thursday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Some weekend availability may be required if short-staffed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
