Responsibilities:

• You will also be an active participant in equipment acceptance testing and commissioning as well as evaluating proposed changes to equipment and machinery for safety requirements.
• Work with engineering, operations and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities​
• Develop equipment safety standards where needed and continuously improve existing standards​
• Complete Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 and Rivian standards​
• Conduct Equipment Safety Buyoffs with a cross-functional team​
• Identify safety opportunities and suggest corrective actions for continuous improvement ​
• Create and deliver training related to equipment and machinery safety​
• Maintain detailed records of equipment compliance
• Work with department EHS staff to support as needed​
• Participate in learning teams, investigations, inspections, audits, etc. as needed​

Required​

• Demonstrated familiarity with mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design
• Experience with ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO and other applicable standards​
• Experience interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits and evaluating performance level & circuit structure ​
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuit design in accordance with NEC, UL 508a, and NFPA 79

Preferred ​

• Certified Functional Safety Professional CFSP/CFSE​
• Certified Machine Safety Expert
• Experience in Battery/EV Manufacturing
• Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, occupancy classification, hazardous material inventories
