Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a K-12 student who is deaf or hard of hearing in Wellsboro, PA. This contract position spans the 2025-2026 school year, running from August 20, 2025, through June 4, 2026. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, providing 32.5 to 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities include facilitating effective munication between the student and their hearing peers, teachers, and school staff. You will translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring the student has full access to educational content and social interaction within the school environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Minimum of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), or full certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
• Experience as an ASL paraeducator may be considered, although certification is strongly preferred
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism within the educational setting
