Sound-tech for Live Jazz Club
Winter’s Jazz Club prides itself on being Chicago’s premium live Jazz listening room and seeks an excellent sound tech to uphold this mission.
Winter’s also prides itself on being a wonderful place to work and requires that everyone within its four walls - management, staff, and musicians - treat each other with kindness, respect, and professionalism at all times.
Our primary goal is to perpetuate the joy that live Jazz creates, but this is only fully possible if our employees enjoy their jobs and feel respected and valued as part of a team.
We welcome qualified candidates who embrace this approach to inquire for more information and to apply for the position.
Skills required:
— Must be highly proficient with digital sound board.
— Must be highly skilled and able to EQ up to 3 vocalists at a time.
— Must have a professional, friendly, and collaborative demeanor with musicians and fellow colleagues.
Duties:
— Nightly stage set-up and reconfiguration; mostly Trios and Quartet but occasionally larger.
— Nightly 30-min sound-check immediately prior to the show.
— Run the sound board during shows; two 75 minute sets nightly.
— Clean and keep the stage and small green room tidy.
Due to the nature of our business model and small staff, we ask the person in this role to lend a hand with a few non-sound related duties as necessary and as time permits; we’re happy to expand upon these tasks during a first interview.
Winter’s is open 5 nights a week, Wednesday-Sunday, and we are looking for someone to work 1 or 2 shifts per weel with the following hours:
Wed-Thu: 5:30 - close, approx. 10:30 PM
Fri-Sat: 6:30 - close, approx. 11:30 PM
Sundays: 4:30 - close, approx. 9:30 PM
Out of town acts occasionally ask for earlier rehearsals/sound-check but typically no more than one hour before the times listed above.
Pay commensurate with experience.
Illinois Secure Choice retirement saving program available to all employees.
Winter’s enjoys a wonderful clientele in a beautiful neighborhood.
