Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Steel Detailer with strong proficiency in preparing structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and 3D models. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with modern detailing software and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare shop drawings, erection drawings, and 3D models for structural steel projects.
Interpret architectural and structural drawings , specifications, codes, and standards.
Develop accurate member details , connection details, and bill of materials (BOM/ABM).
Coordinate with project managers, checkers, engineers, and clients for clarifications and RFIs.
Ensure all drawings comply with AISC, AWS, ASTM , and project-specific standards.
Review and update drawings based on comments or revisions.
Maintain project schedules, deliverables, and drawing logs.
Perform self-checks for accuracy, model integrity, and detailing quality.
Communicate issues, risks, and delays proactively.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Steel Detailer.
Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures / SDS2 / AutoCAD (any one or combination).
Thorough knowledge of steel members, connections, shop drawing standards , and fabrication processes.
Ability to read and interpret AISC codes , structural drawings, and technical specifications.
Excellent understanding of erection sequence, fit-up tolerances , and fabrication limitations.
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in US, UK, Australian, or Middle East steel detailing projects.
Knowledge of rebar detailing (optional but an advantage).
Familiarity with BIM workflows and clash detection tools.
Education:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (preferred).
