Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.

About the Role & Team

The International Engagement & Strategy (IES) section within our Division of International Finance (IF) supports the Board's international engagement and promotes the visibility and influence of Board economic and financial expertise in international policy dialogue. As a summer intern with the team, you will have opportunities to contribute to the development and execution an international engagement strategy; conduct international policy research and analysis; monitor global geopolitical developments; coordinate perspective on international policy issues across the Board and Federal Reserve System; manage relationships with other central banks, foreign finance ministries, and other official sector contacts, including the U.S. Treasury and State Departments; support Board staff participation in, and contributions to, relevant working groups at international organizations; and coordinate international meetings and visitors, including identity and background verification to mitigate reputational risks.

You will work with the International Engagement and Strategy section to support the Federal Reserve Board's responsibilities related to the United States G20 Presidency in 2026. The Board, jointly with the U.S. Treasury, will have responsibility for hosting the G20 Finance Track meetings, one of the premier forums for central bank and treasury officials from the world's largest economies to discuss pressing economic challenges and financial stability risks, and to coordinate on global policy issues.

Assignments will be related to supporting the G20 Finance Track. The selected individual may contribute to smooth logistics for major meetings, assist with the drafting of policy-related papers and communiques, conduct background research, and/or contribute to related workstreams.

About You (Background & Skills)
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Communications or a related field, graduating Aug '26 or later.

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Applicant must be a current student, graduating from their program August 2026 or later. Proof of enrollment will be required.
  • Available for 40-hrs/week, for 10-12 weeks during summer 2026, with daily on-site presence at our offices in Downtown Washington, D.C.
