The Campus Rec Summer Temp is responsible for performing operational tasks for respective Campus Recreation programs and facilities. They will provide excellent customer service, maintain facility and asset cleanliness, ensure that all policies are followed by guests and participants, and ensure all safety measures are being implemented. The Summer Intramural Sports Staff is responsible to referee IMS tournaments and games, accurately record IMS game points and statistics, or monitor the Liberty Mountain Intramural Complex fields and courts. They are responsible for performing operational tasks and maintaining indoor and outdoor facility cleanliness at all used facilities during various Intramural Sports events. They will ensure that all policies are followed by users and guests and that all safety measures are being implemented at all facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Responsible for ensuring participant safety, facility cleanliness, effective operations, and a high level of customer service, at all used facilities, during operational hours.2. Assist in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies at all used facilities, ensuring compliance with university policies.3. Responsible to fairly officiate Intramural Sports events, maintaining standards of play and ensuring that rules are adhered to.4. Responsible to legibly write and track game points and statistics.5. Responsible for checking-in valid participants for Intramural Sports and Campus Recreation events.6. Responsible for the set up and tear down of essential equipment.7. Effectively communicate any issues or customer complaints to the Intramural Sports Manager on shift.8. Responsible to ensure clean and organized facilities through stocking supplies and maintaining clean and public spaces.9. Responsible to assist with maintenance of equipment at all used facilities, including regular cleaning.10. Regularly assist with events and operations during evening, nights or weekend hours.11. Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.12. Perform all other tasks assigned by the Intramural Sports Coordinator, Assistant Director, and Director to assist with Campus Recreation operations and programming.13. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSMinimum Qualifications- Basic knowledge of all sport specific rules- Experience in playing and/or scorekeeping specific sport- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week- Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)Preferred Qualifications- Advanced knowledge of all sport specific rules- Legible hand writing- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification- Experience in a customer service position- Desire to pursue Recreation Management as a career fieldABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB- Communication and Comprehension: Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Strong organizational skills.- Problem Solving: Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.- Physical and Sensory Abilities: Frequently required to sit or stand in one location for extended periods to perform tasks assigned to varying positions. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move around the facility. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds.WORKING CONDITIONS- Work Environment: The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position will vary depending on facility need. Employee can be assigned to an outside position that will deal with extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Employees may also be scheduled in climate-controlled areas during a shift. All areas are well lit and the noise level varies from moderate to loud (whistle use).- Driving Requirements: Use of one’s personal vehicle may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of the position.
