Job Description Essential Job Functions Responsible for scheduling hospital and ambulatory admissions. Verbalize procedure for collection of pre‑admission testing data. Coordinate required testing prior to admission and ensure all information and consents are on site for patient’s admission/procedure. Schedule and enter diagnostic tests and procedures into the orders management system, following all appropriate workflows. Arrange types and distribute surgery schedule. Communicate problems to Nurse/Physician/Clinical Manager. Employ appropriate and timely use of tasking. Accurately complete any/all necessary forms for the patient. Perform various clerical duties including faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailing. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with physicians and nursing staff. General Job Functions Demonstrate understanding of submission of necessary documents for hospital and patient procedures. Demonstrate a working knowledge of booking and scheduling inpatient, outpatient, and special procedures. Demonstrate a working knowledge of insurance and pre‑certification requirements. Demonstrate knowledge for rescheduling and canceling procedures. Demonstrate customer service skills when communicating with peers/other departments. Alleviate patient anxiety through verbal customer service skills. Use good judgment in scheduling procedures to increase physician productivity. Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures. Log surgical procedures as needed. Arrange for specialty equipment/services as needed. Interact with outside vendors/contracted services as needed. Other job duties as required. Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements High School/GED required. Vocational/Technical School/Diploma Program preferred. Heart Saver certification within 90 days of hire required. 0‑1 years experience. 2‑4 years experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to use problem‑solving, critical thinking, and prioritization skills. Experience with standard office equipment (phone, fax, copy machine, scanner, email/voicemail) preferred. Experience with standard office technology in a Windows‑based environment preferred. Experience with patient care equipment preferred. Experience with EHR, practice management system, and departmental/ancillary systems preferred. Pay Range: $21.30 – $26.15 hourly.
