Job Description

Samson Rose is exclusively engaged by a stealth B2B Robotics & AI company to help them find a Head of Engineering to join the founding team. The company is aiming to revolutionize industrial operations for industries such as automotive manufacturing, logistics, and retailers.

This person will have full ownership of product development and be instrumental in shaping the company's technical direction. You’ll lead the development of their solutions and drive innovation to deliver usable products to their customers. This highly technical, hands-on role requires you to take their product's alpha version to a validated hardware and software design and initial reliability testing (Engineering Validation state) by the end of 2025 while building the team and processes for a scalable engineering organization.

A bit about the company:

• Launched in the summer of 2024 by Tesla, Nike, Amazon, and Zipline alumni.
• Currently bootstrapped and kicked off the pre-seed in January 2025. Expected to kick off the Seed in Fall 2025.
• The prototype is in alpha testing in a real-world customer warehouse. Currently engaged with a customer base that collectively accounts for tens of thousands of units in the market.
• Planning towards having multiple units in customer proof-of-concept trials in the next 2-4 months.
• Targeting a multi-billion dollar market that is entirely untapped today.
• The founder is well-connected in the market and could leverage a strong network of operators, advisors, and peers to help grow.

The person they are looking for:

• Will be the founding head of engineering and tasked with product ownership, hands-on development, and technology leadership.
• Will be building and leading the engineering team and laying the groundwork for an engineering culture and org.
• Will spearhead cross-functional collaboration while working closely with the CEO, Operations Leader, and early customers.
• Needs to be a hands-on builder and comfortable with rapid prototyping and working in a resource-constrained startup environment.
• Needs to be capable of operational scaling, including designing engineering systems and processes for sustainable and scalable product development.
• Needs to have d eep technical experience in some of the robotics-relevant domains like mechatronics, hardware or software, data, product, or AI/ML.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, or ROS 2, with the ability to design and implement efficient, reliable, and scalable code.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and their application to computer vision or robotics.
• Strong understanding of sensor fusion, localization, mapping (SLAM), and path planning algorithms.
• Familiarity with hardware integration, including sensors (LiDAR, cameras, IMUs)and their software interfaces, data acquisition, and ML applications in robotics.
