About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Pension Administrator for our Glatfelter Specialty Benefits/LOSAP Department. This position will be responsible and accountable for an assigned book of pension plans. This includes all aspects of plan installation, administration, invoicing, account reconciliation and client service.

This position will also provide effective and timely resolution of issues presented by clients, agents and insurance companies using analytical ability, independent thought and superior client service standards while also being mindful of departmental guidelines and procedures.

This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand basic actuarial funding methods and concepts. This includes the ability to look at recommended deposits when processing annual information and determine if the end result makes sense. Further, be able to explain basic actuarial concepts to internal and external parties.
• Process day-to-day administrative paperwork associated with the administration of defined benefit LOSAP product.
• Maintain accurate and complete financials for all assigned plans.
• Facilitate timely and effective resolution of client requests and challenges with minimal assistance from management.
• Be able to prepare, interpret and understand routine and complex plan documents
• Prepare pre-valuation and actuarial reports which includes, but is not limited to the following:
• Fully utilize pension system capabilities to facilitate annual plan updating
• Perform reconciliation of annual financial information
• Prepare annual client reports
• Offer consultative service to clients/agents

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent with appropriate course work leading to proficiency in math as well as verbal and written communication skills.
• College degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job preferred.
• Should possess valid Pennsylvania Life, Accident and Health License or be willing to attain within first six (6) months of employment.
• Obtain and maintain other licenses as required.
• Minimum of two (2) years office experience required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in pension administration, financial services or mathematical related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to master new software applications quickly.
• Experience with Pension rating systems preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting/database software applications (e.g.: Microsoft excel) and mathematical (basic accounting) concepts required.
• Working knowledge of equipment and machines normally found in a modern office; including but not limited to copiers, calculators, fax and digital scanners.
• Ability to speak and write in a grammatically correct manner to effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals both internally and externally.
• Ability to work independently and to cope in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a high level of professionalism and concentration to handle simultaneous tasks efficiently.
• Ability to gather information and solve issues within a specified scope of authority as presented by clients, agents and insuring companies.
• Ability to organize and effectively prioritize work.
• Ability to work in and promote a team environment.
• Effective interpersonal skills are required to develop relationships with clients and agents.
• Analytical ability is required in order to identify the needs of clients, the requirements of the carriers, analyze policy language, and develop wording to define exposure and coverage details.
