Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available for the 2024-2025 school year in a K-12 setting located in Emporia, VA. This contract position runs from August 7, 2024, through May 20, 2025, with a consistent schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., totaling 35 hours per week.

This role focuses on supporting an elementary student, providing direct interpretation services throughout all classes and activities. The position is not itinerant in the traditional sense but requires acpanying the student across all scheduled engagements during the school day to ensure clear munication access.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled American Sign Language interpretation for an elementary student in multiple classroom settings.
• Follow the student to all classes, activities, and events to facilitate munication.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and support personnel to enhance the student's educational experience.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interactions.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficient in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills for educational environments.
• Experience working in K-12 school settings preferred.
• Ability to maintain a professional and flexible approach in various classroom contexts.
• Strong munication and collaboration skills.
